Under the guidance of expert birders, participants will learn about this fun outdoor activity and the importance of birds to our ecosystems. Birding teams travel from TLNC to different locations, see how many birds they can find and return to TLNC to identify their birds and share their findings. They will use smart phones, binoculars and spotting scopes to find and identify birds.
For families with school aged children. Children must be accompanied by an adult unless high school age. This activity is not appropriate for very young children. NOTE: If an adult does not accompany the youth and they can’t drive, you must be willing for them to travel to birding locations in a vehicle driven by a TLNC/OVAS volunteer.
Pre-registration is required and only 30 people are accepted due to the hands-on nature of the program. Younger children must be accompanied by an adult. Register at www.universe.com/birding4kids2019 or call 352-357-7536. $5 fee to attend.
