It is important for all boaters to learn about safe boating.
The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 43 will be conducting an “About Safe Boating” Course on November 11 from 9 AM to 5 PM at the Trout Lake Nature Center. TLNC is located at 520 East CR 44, Eustis, FL.
Participants completing the course are awarded the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Safe Boating Certificate. Some insurance carriers offer discounts for having this certification.
During the course, participants learn about types of boats, getting underway, navigation rules, operating a boat, and the legal requirements for boating in Florida. What to do in boating emergencies and how to enjoy water sports responsibly.
At noon a special flag ceremony will take place in honor of all veterans. All are invited to attend the flag ceremony and remember the services of our veterans.
The cost for this course is $30/person and includes workbook, snacks and beverages during breaks. Second family members may attend for an additional $5 fee and share the workbook. All checks should be made out to the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary 43. If planning to attend, dress comfortably, bring a pencil/pen and paper and a bag lunch.
