Trout Lake Nature Center is temporarily closing its Education Building to visitors from September 12 through September 18 for flooring installation. The outdoor exhibits and trails remain open during regular hours Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. TLNC is regularly closed Sundays and Mondays. The natural history museum is also not open to visitors at this time, but bathrooms will be made available upon request.
The flooring installation is one of the last efforts to restore the building after a break-in and vandalism June 27 and will require extensive moving of exhibits and furniture. The support of members, donors and the community has been significant in getting TLNC back to normal. The flooring and installation is made possible by the generosity of Lowe’s in Mount Dora and Legacy Flooring. The final repairs remaining are the restoration of the panther to the diorama along with some other taxidermy repairs to wildlife mounts. These final repairs are currently scheduled to be completed on October 3. We look forward to your future visit!
