Feb. 15 Friday Night Naturalist: Softshell turtles

Feb 2, 2019

6 PM

Join us to learn about the latest challenge to our softshell turtles, presented by Dr. Lisa Shender, a wildlife veterinarian with the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute, at 6 PM at the Trout Lake Nature Center, 520 East CR 44, Eustis.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) began to receive reports of sick and dead freshwater turtles in the St. Johns River watershed in March 2018. At least 170 sick and dead turtles, primarily softshell, have been documented via FWC surveys and photo-verified reports from public citizens. Dr. Shender will be presenting more information on suspected causes and what the public can do to help.

This program is free to attend but a $5 donation is suggested to support this independent non-profit’s future programs. For more information, email tlncdirector@gmail.com or call 352.357.7536.
